The Microgrid Investment Accelerator (MIA) invests in clean energy microgrid companies serving markets with significant energy poverty across Africa and India. MIA is a catalytic investment fund that provides early-stage, risk-tolerant capital to clean energy microgrid developers in order to drive scaled deployment towards commercial viability of microgrids. MIA does this through a flexible investment approach that includes venture debt and preferred or hybrid equity investments that help unlock other pools of funding, such as corporate equity and project-level asset finance.
MIA has been seed funded by Facebook and has a target capitalization of $25 Million.
